To provide timber framed and clad Geocentric dome at The Fold, Hereford.
Opportunity details
We are inviting experienced Geodesic Timber Frame / Cladded Glamping Pod manufacturers to bid for our project located on our Glamping Site in Herefordshire. Due to replacing an existing PVC Geodesic dome the successful bid will need to meet strict dimensional requirements as per plan below with particular attention to the external width Dimension being of the width 5976mm.
The mezzanine parameters will need to be in line with dimensions as per the plan below and must be positioned to align with the corresponding angle breaks created by the hexagonal and pentagonal interchange.
The frequency required is 3v and will need to be orientated such that the hexagonal and pentagonal interchange at the entrance sides permits the clearance zone from the entry side to create a perpendicular line of clearance to the edge of the mezzanine frame.
The Geodesic dome base is to be produced from treated KD 150mm x 50mm and structurally designed to support the dome and users with an 18mm OSB board with long sides perpendicular to the joists. Finished floor to be T&G redwood boards.
The Geodesic dome frame is to be produced from treated KD 125mm x 50mm and is to be formed using the bevelled edge method (no hub connectors) to produce the precise angles required to the central hub of each Hexagon, Pentagon and panel interchange.
We will require evidence of previous completed Geodesic Timber frame Dome projects to evaluate the skill level of the bidder, and this will form a high % on our evaluation process.
We will require a ‘build up’ detail specifying all layers and their respective installation process, with particular attention to the PIR supplied (or alternative proposed if of equal or greater specification).
Cladding is to be Canadian Western Red Cedar (No2 Clear 15% No4 Clear) to EN14915 for exposed surfaces. Approx. 85% the No.2 Clear; Better grade will be clear or contain small infrequent knots Approx. 15% the No.4 Clear grade will have larger and more frequent knots / defects. Profile BTC5 PTG Closed V joint 22 x 150mm machined to 18 x 145mm (135mm cover).
Internal ply to be proportionally represented to the relative bevelled edge frame pattern and in such forming the reflective pattern of that formed externally.
Integration of Log Burner flue to internal and external faces to create waterproof seal.
Mezzanine access to be via staggered step space saver ladder.
10 year Structural warranty required.
